SARASU - My Best Companion
Our first meeting was so unexpected. She was given as a surprise gift from my dad. I haven't chosen her, I think she did, she was not much different from others. One of the most common vehicles used by many girls. I have seen the same kind of model in my school cycle stand. Yes!!! Sarasu is my cycle. She is a pink ladybird cycle. I named her after my favorite 10th std Physics teacher.
My first trip with her to my School was so smooth, I felt like no one was on the road. I am the only one neatly dressed schoolgirl riding her cycle in her way. I am not a beginner to ride cycles, I used to go to school in the cycle from my 2nd std, but I feel excited. When I walked with the pink girl to my school cycle stand, I saw many aged pink ladybird cycle there. I thought this is how my Sarasu looks after a few years. I am not disappointed by it because I know appearances are deceptive.
At night time, street dogs will chase us, Sarasu is the one, will save me every time. I will just lift my leg in cycle or I will ride very fast to escape from it. To our surprise, we don't have any bad incidents, even minor accidents.
My first cycle race in her. I don't know why we had the thought to race the passerby. Whenever I go to school, If some vehicle overtake us, without giving them eye contact. We will overtake them, Some may not chase us. Some will, it will become like a race. My travel in Sarasu was never boring, Most of the time I will be drenched in sweat. I will be breathing heavily when I reach the cycle stand. It was a happy memorable days with chasing and racing. Whenever I bend my head to lock my cycle. My heart speaks in silence with her "Sarasu be safe, I will come soon...bye!"
I have got some caring advice and requests from loved one's to go safe. I have listened to them at times. My morning travel goes by chasing, My night travel goes by admiring the beauty of Nature. Especially the moon which travels along with us. I have been filled with random thoughts, Sarasu will listen to my heart in silence.
Now Sarasu is seven years old. Whenever I ride someone's cycle. It reminds me only of her. Sarasu - My Best Companion, Thank you for giving more beautiful memories in life.
I have written this on World Bicycle Day - June 3, Sarasu has been my world in my teen.

I've too felt it re... some of our 'so-called-normal' possessions really become a huge part of us... And that too the ones we possess in our growing years... I've felt the same comrade like attachment with a pair of shoes that belonged to me! lol! (p.s: try watching 'Gautamante Ratham' when you are free;) Nice work!
